Dickenson County Schools will dismiss on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. to allow our students to enjoy Kid's Day at the Dickenson County Fair.

You are invited to the first Special Education Advisory Committee Meeting of the 2026-2027 school year. It will be held at the Dickenson County School Board Office on Thursday, September 17th, beginning at noon.

Dickenson County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, 2026

Temporary Sideline Access Restrictions

Region 2D recently adopted new requirements regarding access to playing areas by outside and nontraditional media.

While Dickenson County Public Schools develops a division policy to address these requirements, sideline and playing-area access at Ridgeview High School will be limited to student-athletes, coaches, officials, event personnel, and school or division employees. Individuals who are not affiliated with the school will not be permitted on the sidelines during this time.

Photographs and recordings may still be taken from the bleachers or other designated spectator areas with the purchase of an admission ticket. Full live broadcasts of athletic contests, including broadcasts through social media platforms, are not permitted under VHSL policy.

This temporary restriction will remain in place until DCPS finalizes its policy and procedures. We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we work to protect the safety of our students, staff, officials, and spectators.

Buses and car riders have been released and should be on their way home. We thank you for your understanding as we wanted to make sure our students were safe as they traveled home.

Due to the recent storm, we are holding all bus and car riders due to down trees and electrical lines. SCHOOL WILL NOT DISMISS AT 3:00 PM.

Once the situation is assessed we will make another announcement as to when buses and car riders may leave.

As a precaution of the possiblity of debris being in the road in the morning from the storm, Dickenson County Public Schools will operate on a 2-Hour Delay for Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The instructional day will begin at 10:00 AM

GREAT NEWS!!!! All of the students in all our schools will receive a free breakfast and free lunch through the CEP program.

Our next meal pickup will be on Friday, July 24th from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Ridegview HIgh School entrance. Meals will consist of 8 breakfasts and 8 lunches and included a gallon of milk. Some chocolate milk will be available while it lasts.

Meals will be on a first come, first served basis and will be given out until they run out.

Come out and take advantage of this!!!

The Dickenson County Health Department will sponsor a Back-to-School Immunization Clinic on July 29, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. You may call the Health Department for an appointment, but walk-ins are also welcome.

Dickenson County Public Schools will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of the 4th of July holiday. Wishing our families a wonderful celebration of our country's 250th birthday. Our schools/offices will reopen on Monday, July 6th.

Dickenson County Public Schools is now accepting sealed bids for surplus buses. Bids will be accepted until Friday, July 24, 2026. Please see the document below for a description of the bues, minimum bid amounts, and procedures for placing a bid.
