September is here, and it brings with it the exciting opportunity to celebrate Attendance Awareness Month! This nationwide initiative beautifully highlights the essential connection between consistent school attendance and academic success. This month, we can all come together—schools, families, and community partners—to foster an environment that encourages regular attendance through tailored support systems and personalized interventions aimed at reducing chronic absenteeism.
Did you know that missing just two days each month—about ten percent of the school year—can have a real impact on a student's academic journey? Important Bus changes for Friday, September 5, 2025
Bus 43
Students that normally ride Bus 43 in the morning will be picked up 20-30 minutes later and will return home from school approximately 20-30 minutes later. They will be transported on Bus 31 on Friday which is a first run bus.
Bus 31
Students that live on Road Branch will be 20-30 minutes later being picked up on Friday morning. This includes Jack Childress, Raspberry Hill and Buttercup Hill areas. This also includes the students that catch the bus at Triple T and Squirrel Camp area (They will be 20-30 minutes later being picked up in the morning).
The students that live on Road Branch above Turner Road turnoff will arrive home 20-30 minutes later. This included Jack Childress, Raspberry Hill and Buttercup Hill areas)

Students that live on Burrhead, Hadley and Basin Branch will be transported by Bus 27 on Friday morning with pick up at approximately 7:10 AM and will arrive home between 3:20 PM and 3:30 PM.

Just a reminder that Dickenson County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025 in observance of Labor Day. Schools will re-open on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Our theme for this year is ‘Every child. Every day. Every Chance.” This year, I also want to assure you that our top priority is the safety and well-being of the children in our care. As a school division, we continue to implement annual comprehensive safety protocols and procedures. We are resolute to fostering positive and inclusive environments where all students feel safe, respected and valued. As the year unfolds, please know that our doors are always open. Your questions, ideas, and insights are invaluable to us, and together we can ensure that every child has the tools and confidence to succeed.

Please be on the lookout for our buses and be alert to the stops they make as they pick up our students.
We do expect the Ridgeview Campus parking lot to be crowded as it is every beginning of school as parents and buses drop off students. Please be patient with us as we iron out any transportation difficulties that we may have the first few days.
Our student's safe travel to and from school is a top priority for us.
We hope everyone has a great return to our schools!!
